From the moment your rug or runner is collected, it is handled and treated with the utmost care during each stage of the alteration processes at our custom-built Rug Care Workshop Studios. INSPECTION | ALTERATION WORKS GO-AHEAD

As soon as your weaving arrives at our Rug Care Workshop Studios, we review and assess the weave’s size, woven fibres’ condition and construction, to ensure and confirm the customer’s requested alteration works can be applied safely and securely before any works proceed.

DRY DE-DUSTING | DEBRIS REMOVAL

The first step in our alteration process is to perform a dry, gentle de-dusting on the piece, before any alteration or cleaning steps are undertaken. This crucial step is specifically designed for rugs and runners, to gently loosen dust particles and safely eliminate ingrained debris and embedded build-ups in delicate rug fibres that standard vacuuming cannot reach. This process effectively actively encourages renewed rug fibre suppleness, thereby allowing our specialised alteration processes to be applied more effectively.

CREATING A TEMPLATE FOR ALTERATION WORKS

All alteration templates are hand-crafted for each individual job, depending on the alteration works required. First, the piece for alteration works is measured to ensure the exact size. Next, for alterations such as: cut-outs for sockets and access slots we create a measurement template and transfer this template onto the reverse side of the rug or runner, ready for cutting, binding and finishing works. For more complex alterations such as: reshaping, reducing and resizing works, we draw out a gridded template calculated to scale, with the alteration design overlaid square by square onto the original rug or runner template – to ensure a match in size, weave knot and pile direction. Any further modifications are applied to the template at this stage, before any cutting works are undertaken.

While our discreet 'rug or runner access slots’ cover floor sockets or protruding, straggling cables, but still allow full access to these tech accessories, without them being an eyesore or becoming a potential trip hazard.

FRINGES | BINDINGS | FINISHINGS

After cutting, all alteration works are meticulously joined and secured. Fringing, edging and whipped binding are then added, and trimmings such as original labels are re-attached. Specialised finishing techniques complete the job, to ensure the piece will not loosen or unravel over time and to create a seamless, professional finish. All completed Alteration works come with our Life-time Guarantee.

RE-CONDITIONING RUG FIBRES AND COLOUR VIBRANCY

We offer cleaning as an optional part of the process, after alteration works are completed. We apply traditional deep wash, hand-cleaning methods combined with organic soap solutions – safe for children and pets. Our cleaning care processes gently penetrate and deep cleanse each piece, giving a better, more reconditioned result. Each clean includes a FREE hand-conditioning treatment for fringes and a FREE professional-grade moth treatment to prolong the lifespan of your rug. Our hand-cleaning methods actively rejuvenate and recondition rug yarn fibres, with allergens removed, colours and textures revived, and the lustre restored. Pieces are thoroughly aired and dried, then brushed to lay the nap, with pile fibres buffed and polished. Completing the revitalising alteration process.

To give further added protection to your weaving at home, we encourage the use of anti-slip rug underlay. We supply a professional-grade underlay that alleviates systemic rug problems, such as creeping, rucking and prolonged wear, while safely protecting the weave foundation of your piece. Underlay is cut to size, where we are happy to discuss your requirements beforehand.
